“You don’t spring into good cooking naked. You have to have some training. You have to learn how to eat.”
Julia Child,

Welcome to my blog and thank you very much for your time. :)  This is Gopika here. I am a native of Kerala (South India), currently living in the U.S. with my hubby, Arun.

Cooking & me?

It was the first time after marriage that I got a kitchen for myself to play with. Untill then I was my Mom's apprentice. :D Mom loves and enjoys cooking. We always have friends or family come over and Mom makes sure that everybody leaves our place with tummy full of  yummy  food. Me, well I have always been a foodie and love trying my hands on something new each time. Playing around Mom's kitchen was impossible. So as soon as I got "my" kitchen I started off!!!

Blogging & me?

Initially, I jotted down or took printouts of the recepies I needed. This turned out to be very unorganized. It was then that I decided to create my own blog. A blog which will work as my personal recipe/reference book. I include only the tried and tasted recepies. The recepies are a collection of those from my Mom, Amma (Mom-In-Law), Ammu (Sister-In-Law) and other blogging friends. :)

I hope you enjoy the recepies here. Thank you once again for your time. Hey, do visit again.

Cheers,
Gopz

Announcing Veggie/Fruit A Month Event - Lemon

Days fly by so fast!! Really!! It feels just like yesterday that I hooked up for this wonderful event (Veggie/Fruit  A Month ) chartered by our dearest Priya of Mharo Rajasthan's Recipe . A huge thank you to you Priya for including me. :) Lemon is the star of the month.   Lemon   refers to both an evergreen tree and its yellow fruit. Lemon has n number of uses from the simple everyday lemon   juice (lemonade) to a lemon marmalade. Pickled lemons are also a very popular Moroccan delicacy.  Now coming back to the event there are some rules for this event - " Lemon " has to be the star ingredient in the dish. Prepare a vegetarian recipe (eggs are allowed) It has to be a brand new recipe folks, No archives please (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert - the word is anything :)).  Use of the logo is mandatory to help spread the word about the event. Link your post to this announcement and to Priya's main event page.  Non bloggers are ...

The Kitchen Affaire turns One :)

The afternoon breeze and the sound of rustling leaves is so soothing. So here I sit, enjoying this change of weather, to pen memories of last year. Gosh!! I cant believe that - The Kitchen Affaire; is turning "One". :) Time does fly. Last year has been very eventful. An year that changed my title from: a carefree mommy's gal to an "adorable" ("A" would not agree with this!! hi hi) wife; an IT engineer to a house-wife;  and a huge move from my home in Kerala (India) to a new home in Houston (U.S.A). It feels like all of this happened in a blink of an eye. All this change wouldn't have sunk in so easily if not for my hubby dear. :)   Starting this blog was not impromptu. I used to blog during my college days. But this time I wanted a blog meant only for my cooking experiments or challenges. After settling down in our lovely apartment, I slowly started my cooking experiments. Initially I would jot all of it in a notebook. Then I decided not to a...
