Ammu's Baby Shower & Castle Cake

It was my sis n law's surprise baby shower over the memorial weekend. Guess who arranged for it? Me me me - my hubby darling :D and of course her dear hubby :) I made her this Castle Cake. Though it did not turn out as I hoped, it was not entirely a no no. :)

I wish I could make it look better. Well, its my first such cake. Its completely home made. Two tiers of chocolate cake, middle layer made of Pound cake. Home made snow white buttercream and designed using pastry bags and piping :) And a cone on top to give it the tower like feel :D

Announcing Veggie/Fruit A Month Event - Lemon

Days fly by so fast!! Really!! It feels just like yesterday that I hooked up for this wonderful event (Veggie/Fruit  A Month ) chartered by our dearest Priya of Mharo Rajasthan's Recipe . A huge thank you to you Priya for including me. :) Lemon is the star of the month.   Lemon   refers to both an evergreen tree and its yellow fruit. Lemon has n number of uses from the simple everyday lemon   juice (lemonade) to a lemon marmalade. Pickled lemons are also a very popular Moroccan delicacy.  Now coming back to the event there are some rules for this event - " Lemon " has to be the star ingredient in the dish. Prepare a vegetarian recipe (eggs are allowed) It has to be a brand new recipe folks, No archives please (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert - the word is anything :)).  Use of the logo is mandatory to help spread the word about the event. Zebra Cake - Work of Art

Sweets are my weakness or should I say strength ;) I adore them. And that is how I put on weight!! :(  Still, I don't want to call them my weakness. :) I love all kinds of sweets ranging from cakes to chocolates to Indian mithai to Turkish Baklava and the list never ends.. :D phew! Guess I got if from mum. She loves sweets. hi hi And enjoys making all kinds of sweet dishes. She is the one who taught me the secret of making the perfect Caramel Pudding, pink colored Pal Payasam (Indian-Kerala cuisine) and lot more. We used to bake cakes too. Mmm..
